Joint Pain

Joint pain is commonly reported in the shoulder, knees, hips and ankles. It can be accompanied by swelling, stiffness, movement restriction and pain on loading.

One of the most common causes of joint pain is overuse - this is where we have loaded the joint in excess of its capacity. This type of joint pain is usually accompanied by swelling and pain on loading.

Another common cause of joint pain is osteoarthritis - a condition that develops over time as the joint space reduces. This is typically accompanied by stiffness after inactivity and movement restriction.

Most cases of joint pain are managed effectively in physiotherapy. Sometimes, further investigations such as X-Rays are required to assess the best management pathway.

Expert assessment will help to inform you on the cause of your joint pain and the best treatment options.
